Happy feast of Saint Patrick! On this day, ten years ago, the team of Christopher Inn International gathered for Mass and to consecrate the apostolate to Mary, Queen of Apostles.

Just the day prior, Pope Benedict XVI had announced that the Church would celebrate a Year for Priests.

Today, members of the team of CI International will pray the consecration prayer anew and ask Our Lady that the graces of the Year for Priests continue to bear fruit in the lives of every priest worldwide. Please join in praying with us if you feel so inspired:

Prayer to Mary Queen of Apostles

Immaculate Mother of God,
Queen of the Apostles,
we know that God’s commandment of love
and our vocation to follow Jesus Christ
impels us to cooperate in the mission of the Church.

Realizing our own weakness,
we entrust the renewal of our personal lives
and Christopher Inn International to your intercession.\

We are confident that through God’s mercy
and the infinite merits of Jesus Christ,
you, who are our Mother,
will obtain the strength of the Holy Spirit
as you obtained it for the community of the apostles gathered in the upper room.

Therefore, relying on your maternal intercession,
we resolve from this moment
to devote our talents, learning, material resources,
our health, sickness and trials,
and every gift of nature and grace,
for the greater glory of God and the salvation of all.

We wish to carry on those activities
which especially promote the renewal of priestly life,
and, through this renewal,
the revival of faith and love among all the people of God
and so bring all men and women
into the faith of Jesus Christ.

And if a time should come
when we have nothing more to offer serviceable to this end,
we will never cease to pray
that there will be one fold and one shepherd Jesus Christ.

In this way,
we hope to enjoy the results of the apostolate of Jesus Christ
for all eternity.
Amen.

Saint PatrickOn Friday, March 8th, the team of The Christopher Inn International will begin a novena in honor of Saint Patrick, Apostle of Ireland, which is celebrated each year on March 17th.

March 17, 2019 will also mark the 10th anniversary of consecrating The Christopher Inn International to Mary, Queen of Apostles.

Please consider joining us in prayer for God’s blessing on this developing apostolate at the service of Catholic bishops and priests!

If you’d like to join us, simply pray the following each day, beginning on March 8th and concluding on March 16th:

Novena to Saint Patrick, Apostle of Ireland

Blessed saint Patrick,
glorious Apostle of Ireland,
who didst become a friend and father to me
for ages before my birth,
hear my prayer and accept, for God,
the sentiments of gratitude and veneration
with which my heart is filled.

Through thee I have inherited that faith
which is dearer than life.

I now make thee the representative of my thanks,
and the mediator of my homage to Almighty God.

Most holy Father and patron of my homeland,
despise not my weakness;
remember that the cries of little children
were the sounds that rose,
like a mysterious voice from heaven,
and invited thee to come amongst us.

Listen, then, to my humble supplication;
may my prayer ascend to the throne of God,
with the praises and blessings
which shall ever sanctify thy name and thy memory.
May my hope be animated
by the patronage and intercession of our forefathers,
who now enjoy eternal bliss and owe their salvation,
under God, to thy courage and charity.

Obtain for me grace to love God
with my whole heart,
to serve him with my whole strength,
and to persevere in good purposes to the end,
o faithful shepherd of the Irish flock,
who wouldst have laid down a thousand lives to save one soul,
take my soul,
and the souls of my countrymen,
under thy special care.

Be a father to the Church of Ireland
and her faithful people.

Grant that all hearts may share the blessed fruits of that Gospel
thou didst plant and water.

Grant that, as our ancestors of old had learned,
under thy guidance,
to unite science with virtue,
we too, may learn, under thy patronage,
to consecrate all Christian duty to the glory of God.

I commend to thee my native land,
which was so dear to thee while on earth.
Protect it still, and, above all,
direct its chief pastors,
particularly those who teach us.

Give them grace to walk in thy footsteps,
to nurture the flock with the word of life
and the bread of salvation,
and to lead the heirs of the Saints thou hast formed
to the possession of that glory which they,
with Thee, enjoy in the kingdom of the Blessed:
through Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Amen.

V. Pray for us, O glorious saint Patrick.
R. And obtain for our sanctity and that of all the clergy.

contempt of the world;
patience in adversity;
humility in prosperity;
recollection in prayer;
purity of heart;
a right intention in all my works;
diligence in fulfilling the duties of my state of life;
constancy in my resolutions;
resignation to the will of God; and
perseverance in the grace of God even unto death;
that so, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits,
I may be made worthy to appear before the chief and eternal shepherd of souls,
Jesus Christ,
who with the Father and the Holy Spirit
lives and reigns forever.
Amen.

In 2019, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (and the World Day of Prayer for Priests) falls on Friday, June 28.

Back in 2011, on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Vatican Radio released a story about The Christopher Inn International, a developing lay initiative at the service of Catholic bishops and priests. It was an interview with founder and director Joan Johnson, in which she described the origin of the apostolate and some of the plans for its development.

Below is the audio of the Vatican Radio interview that was broadcast back in 2011.

Since that time, Christopher Inn International has hosted two pilot programs, both in the spring of 2012. They were extremely well received by the Irish priests who participated; click here to review some of their words of encouragement. Here is a documentary about the 2012 pilot programs:

Christopher Inn International has not yet acquired property in Ireland. The properties shown on the website (christopherinn.org) are not owned by Christopher Inn, Inc., and are displayed only to demonstrate the kind of property that the organization plans to obtain. This apostolate is presently seeking to:

  • begin the process of acquiring property in Ireland
  • start an operational endowment
  • create a scholarship endowment

Novena of prayer begins September 6: Exaltation of the Cross

Exaltation of the Holy Cross
The Church celebrates the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on September 14th. Please consider joining the team of CI International in nine days of prayer leading up to the feast day, with the special intention that God provides the donors necessary so that we can acquire property and open our doors to serve priests from around the world.

Here is the prayer we will be using:

Jesus, Who because of Your burning love for us willed to be crucified and to shed Your Most Precious Blood for the redemption and salvation of our souls, look down upon us and grant the petition we ask for: the financial means necessary to acquire property for The Christopher Inn International.

We trust completely in Your Mercy.
Cleanse us from sin by Your Grace,
sanctify our work,
give us and all those who are dear to us our daily bread,
lighten the burden of our sufferings,
bless our families,
and grant to the nations, so sorely afflicted,
Your Peace, which is the only true peace,
so that by obeying Your Commandments
we may come at last to the glory of Heaven.

Amen.

Please keep The Christopher Inn International in your prayers this week in a special way: Joan Johnson, our founder, is in Rome this week for a series of meetings in Vatican City, culminating in Mass on June 29 in St. Peter’s Square for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul… which is also Pope Benedict XVI’s 60th anniversary as a priest!

More details about the week as the events unfold.
